Dr. Mayrim Rios Perez,  better known as “ Dr. Rios” is a Board Certified General Surgeon and General Thoracic Surgeon practicing in Houston, Texas since 2020. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Her motivation to become a doctor came from her family as she grew up at her mother’s pharmacy, and her desire to help others through medicine. Her motivation to become a surgeon came from her craftiness and seek for immediate results that can positively impact an individual’s quality of life. She enjoys innovation and education both instilled from her father who retired as a college professor.

Dr. Rios was the Valedictorian of her class and completed undergraduate, medical school, and general surgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Additional post-graduate medical education includes state-of-the-art training centers including: Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, NY, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard affiliated hospital in Boston, MA.

She enjoys teaching and is a volunteer faculty of the University of Houston, College of Medicine (UHCOM) and contributes to the medical training of prospective doctors during surgery clerkship, and surgery residents in formation.
